Qylışbaı Gülbarşyn Raşkenqızı

Actress, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan.

Qylışbaı Gülbarşyn Raşkenqızı was born on April 26, 1959, in Akkol District, Akmola Region.

In 1976, she graduated from secondary school (Kokshetau Region, Kyzyltau District) and in the same year, she completed a two-year theater studio at the M. Auezov Academic Drama Theater in Almaty, before working for one year at the Taldykorgan City Kazakh Drama Theater.

From 1979 to 1981, she worked at the M. Auezov Academic Kazakh Drama Theater.

In 1989, she improved her professional qualifications in Moscow, and in 1991, she continued her professional development in Riga.

She graduated from the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts in Almaty through correspondence from 1995 to 1998.

In 1999, she performed at the International Theater Festival in Cairo.

From 1982 to 2003, she worked at the Z. Shanin Shymkent Kazakh Drama Theater.

Since 2004, she has been working at the Qalybek Quanyshbayev State Academic Kazakh Musical Drama Theater in the capital.

    Awards and Recognitions:

    In 2004, she was awarded the “For Distinguished Labor” Medal by decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N. Nazarbayev.
    In 2012, she was granted the honorary title of “Honored Worker of Kazakhstan.”
    In 2017, on the occasion of the Day of Culture and Art Workers, she received a Letter of Appreciation from the Mayor of Astana.
    In 2019, the “Sakhnа” Theatre, founded by Honored Workers of Kazakhstan Gulbarshyn Kylyshbay and Zhankaldybek Tolenbay, participated in a theatre festival in the Kyrgyz Republic with the performance “Sen ekeumiz” (Author: Zh. Kulmambet, Director: D. Sergazin). The play won the “ERGÜÜ–2019” National Theatre Award in the nomination “Best Foreign Theatre Staging a Work by a Kyrgyz Author.”
    In 2021, she was honored with the “Labor Glory” badge by the Public Association of the Sectoral Trade Union of Workers in Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Information of Kazakhstan.
    In 2024, for her significant contribution to Kazakh theatre art, she was awarded the Jumat Shanin Medal.
    That same year, on the Day of Culture and Art Workers, she received a Letter of Appreciation from the “Amanat” Party.
    In 2023, the lyrical comedy “Kyzyl Alma”, in which G. Kylyshbay played one of the leading roles, was included in the program of the MIT (Mostra Internional de Teatro) International Theatre Show. The production was performed on May 5 in the city of Maia and on May 6 in Braga, Portugal. The play’s author is E. Khushvakhtov, and the director is V. Umarov.

    The festival, aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Europe and Asia, brought together theatres from Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Georgia, Italy, Portugal, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
