The Symphony Orchestra of the State Academic Kazakh Musical Drama Theater named after K.Kuanyshbayev

The Symphony Orchestra of the State Academic Kazakh Musical Drama Theater named after K.Kuanyshbayev consists of 70 musicians. The conductor and principal conductor is Erlan Beisembaev, a laureate of international competitions and an Honored Worker of Culture.

The orchestra has been in existence for more than 20 years. Its repertoire is diverse, ranging from Kazakh folk songs and classical symphonic works to Russian romances and jazz compositions. The theater’s symphony orchestra performs excerpts from operas, musicals, and modern soundtracks. In April 2021, the Symphony Orchestra of the State Academic Kazakh Musical Drama Theater named after K.Kuanyshbayev won the GRAND PRIX and FIRST PLACE in two categories at the “Aurora” Festival-Competition held in Stockholm.

The program featured performances of the Kazakh national song by Kurmangazy “Balbyrauin,” Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” in an original orchestral arrangement, Irving Berlin’s “Putting Astor,” and works from Astor Piazzolla’s “The Four Seasons” series, including “Ritz” and “Winter.”
