The Kazakh people have endured many hardships throughout history. One of the most tragic was the famine of the 20th century… The policies of Stalin and Goloshchyokin, carried out under the slogan “No excesses, not a single hoof left!”, were aimed at the destruction of the local population…
In such devastating times, to remain human and sacrifice oneself for future generations was a heroic act beyond the reach of many.
The play “Zhut” is the first work of the young playwright, our compatriot living in Moscow — Olzhas Zhanaidarov, reflecting on the history of the Kazakh people.
The production was staged as a tribute to the spirits of the ancestors.
The premiere of the performance took place on January 27–28, 2016.
