When centuries converge, the burden arising from the sense of spiritual disorientation and lack of guidance, and the loneliness that traps the characters, is conveyed by Chekhov through their inner reflections. Director Sergey Potapov, in a modernist style, depicted the lives of people wandering without purpose, protection, or strength, where outwardly everything may seem comedic but underneath flows hidden tears. Chekhov’s artistic greatness and humanity are revealed in the timeless truthfulness of his characters.
The premiere of the performance took place on April 18–19, 2016.
