«Two Women in Paris»

On February 14 and 15, the premiere of the international joint project by South Korea, Russia, and Kazakhstan — the play “Two Women in Paris” — will take place in Astana.

The main feature of the project is the joint performance of actors from the theaters of the three countries on one stage.

The action of the play unfolds in Paris in the 1940s. In the Luxembourg Garden, two women meet: the first professional Korean female artist and independence activist Na Hye-seok, and a fictional character, Ranevskaya from Anton Chekhov’s play “The Cherry Orchard.” Through their dialogue, the themes of the past, forgotten names, suffering, and hope are revealed. By intertwining a real historical figure with a literary character, the play demonstrates the meaning of independence through the fate of an individual.

A special performance of the play is being held with the support of the Korean Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
