Oljas Zhakypbek Dalenkhanuly

Oljas Zhakypbek Dalenkhanuly was born on February 16, 1991, in Barshatas village, Shubartau district, Semey city.
From 1997 to 2008, he graduated from secondary school No. 119 in Almaty.
From 2008 to 2012, he studied acting at the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts.
Since 2012, he has been an actor at the Kalibek Kuanyshbaev State Academic Kazakh Music and Drama Theater in the capital city.
In 2017, he portrayed the main character, Tunek, in the drama “The Day of the Defenseless” at the 1st World “Astana” Theater Festival, which was presented to the attention of international theater critics.
In 2017-2018, he was awarded a special “Certificate of Appreciation” from the Mayor of Nur-Sultan City on March 27, International Theater Day.
In 2018, he was accepted through selection into the XII International Summer School of the Theater Workers’ Union of the Russian Federation and underwent training. During this international project, he collaborated with colleagues from other countries and, within a certain period, presented a new premiere to the audience: Evgeny Kulagin, Ivan Estegneev “1518” (dialogue dance).
In 2018, at the 6th International Theater Festival of Central Asian countries, he was awarded the “Debut” nomination for his role of Tunek in the drama “The Day of the Defenseless.”
In 2018, he was awarded the Serper Youth Union Prize of Kazakhstan.
In 2019, he was awarded the “Hope” nomination at the SakhnaGer National Theater Award.
Actor Oljas Zhakypbek portrayed the character of Majnun in the “Layli-Majnun” play (by N. Gandzhevi, directed by B. Abdurazakov) in 2019 at the XXVII National Drama Theaters Festival in Semey and the Samgau VII International Theater Festival, where the play was awarded a special diploma. In 2021, it was shown at the 15th “Nowruz” International Theater Festival of Turkic-speaking peoples (online) in Kazan, where it received high praise from international theater experts. The performance was awarded the Critics’ Prize by the International Theater Critics Association.
In 2019, within the framework of the “Year of Youth,” Oljas and his friends presented the concert-play “While I Am Young…” at the Nomad City Hall in Nur-Sultan. On May 25, the television version of the concert-play was aired on El Arna TV channel.
In 2022, during the “Kaleky Tynysy” premiere week, he won the “Composer of the Year for the Musical Design of the Play” nomination for “The Altai Refugee”.

In 2021, he became the composer and director of the renewed musical comedy “Ayman-Sholpan”, written by M. Auezov. The staging was done by Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, A. Orazbekov.
In the theater repertoire, he has composed music for the plays “Kunanbay” by T. Asemkulov, “Ayman-Sholpan” by M. Auezov, and “The Refugee from Altai” by K. Altai and H. Oraltaev.
Oljas Zhakypbek’s creative talents have been noticed by other theaters, who have invited him to perform major roles. One such example is his participation in the private theater of Aygul Imambayeva (A.I. Theater), where he played Syrim in M. Auezov’s “Karagoz” and Hippolytus in “Phedra” (director – Dina Kunanbayeva). In February 2018, the Phedra play was presented at the CHELoBek TEATRA International Small Theater Forum in Russia, receiving international recognition.
He also played Kozy in the “Kozы Korpesh – Bayan Sulu” musical, staged for the 10th anniversary of the “Baiterek” group.
In addition to his acting career, Oljas Zhakypbek is a talented composer. He wrote soundtracks for several films, including:

- “Ya lyublyu tebya, Akerke” film in 2017
- Composing for BalaPan TV channel’s programs “On Sausak” and “Op-Ongai”
In 2018, he starred in the leading role in the TV series “Ice Fire”.
He also composed soundtracks for “Altyn Unya” and “Again Love” TV series.
As an actor, Oljas Zhakypbek is currently working on dubbing foreign films into Kazakh, contributing to bringing international productions to local audiences in their native language. He has dubbed characters such as Cassian and Andor in “Star Wars,” Kristoff in “Frozen,” and Valerian in “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” He also voiced the main characters in “Coco,” “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” and “The Lion King.”
He voiced characters in “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” “Aladdin,” and “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”
Additionally, Oljas has contributed to Kazakh cinema, portraying characters in “The Smoke of the Homeland,” “Blue Tarlands” (as Nariman Sayin), “Altyn Unya” TV series (as Daniyar), and “The Little Prince” (in the documentary film “Mirzhakyp” as Mirzhakyp Dulatov).
