Oteuil Nurken Ashimkhanuly

Nurken Oteuil Nurken Ashimkhanuly was born on June 14, 1976, in the Shoshanay village, Uyghur district, Almaty region.
In 1994, he graduated from the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh State Institute of Theatre and Cinema, where he studied in the acting department under the guidance of People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Kaken Kenjetaev and Esim Segizbayev. While studying at the institute, he portrayed roles in performances such as “Wedding in Malinovka” (Shal), “Pai-pai, New Young Couple!” (Kasym), “Aldar Kose” (Aldar), and “Ukili Ybrai” (Nurjan).
In 1998, he was invited by People’s Artist of Kazakhstan, Professor K. Jetpissbayev to work at the Kalibek Kuanyshbayev State Academic Kazakh Musical Drama Theatre.

Khaingina-Beknazar; Honored Artist of Yakutia and winner of the “Golden Mask” award among Russian national theaters Sergey Potapov, director Dina Zhumabay, Farhat Moldagali, Italian director Davide Livermore, and Alibek Omirbekuly.
Nurken Oteuil has been awarded several prizes for his performances, including:
- 2001 “Best Male Image” for his role as Scapino in Molière’s “Scapino’s Tricks” at the “Kyzyljar” Theatre Festival.
- Winner of the “Actor’s Art” nomination at the “Shabyt” International Festival.
- Recipient of the “Darwin” State Youth Award in 2006, and the “Youth Union Award” in 2000.
- 2011 “Honored Worker of Kazakhstan” title.
- Winner of the “Best Male Image” nomination for his role in “Hamlet” at the IV Central Asian International Theater Festival in 2012.
- Winner of the “Artist of the Year” award at the “Golden Stage” award ceremony in 2018.
- “Best Actor” award at the “Astana Film Academy” in 2018.
- In 2021, he played the role of Genghis Khan in D. Isabekov’s “Borte” at the Turkestan Musical Drama Theatre.
Nurken Oteuil continues to contribute to the development of Kazakh dubbing in world cinema, lending his voice to characters in foreign films.
