Zhumashev Amantai Zhumasuly – Chief Conductor, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan
Amantai Zhumashev was born on March 30, 1961, in Aktogay District, Karaganda Region. He graduated from Aktoyay Secondary School in 1978.
From 1978 to 1983, he studied at the S. Seifullin Kazakh State Pedagogical Institute in Tselinograd (now Astana), specializing in music and vocal performance.
From 1983 to 1991, he worked at the Zhezkazgan Regional Philharmonic.
Since 1991, he has been serving as the Chief Conductor at the Kazakh National Academic Musical Drama Theatre named after K. Kuanyshbaev in Astana (now Nur-Sultan). He has created several concert programs for the theatre, including “Nauryzym änim, nauryzym säniym” and “Än dombyra, säni dombyra”.
He has performed in concert tours in Germany (Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Mainz), Poland, and Moscow. Additionally, he composed music for several plays, including M. Shakhanov’s “Tanakoz” poetic drama, T. Akhanov’s “Küshik küyeu”, Z. Zhakupov’s “Bazhalar men baldyzdar”, and M. Khasenov’s “Pai-pai, jas zhubaular-ai” comedy.
In 2007, he was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Kazakhstan for his significant contributions to music and culture.
At the theatre, Amantai Zhumashev established a vocal group that continues to operate. He is the author of several works written for choir and solo voice.
In 2016, he was awarded the “25 Years of Kazakhstan’s Independence” commemorative medal by the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
