Today, October 15, marks the birthday of Zhakyp Omaruly,
Honored Artist of Kazakhstan and the founder of the Kazakh National Musical Drama Theatre named after Kalibek Kuanyshbayev.
🎞 In 1990, director Zhakyp Omarov established the Kazakh Theatre in the Tselinograd district (now Akmola region), laying the foundation of national drama art in the very heart of what would become the new capital.
On November 15, 1991, the theatre opened its curtain with “Akan Seri – Aktokty,” a tragedy by G. Müsirepov, staged by Zhakyp Omaruly himself.
The name, creative legacy, and spirit of Zhakyp Omaruly will forever live on within the walls of the Kalibek Kuanyshbayev Theatre — the sacred home he built with devotion and vision.
