Kalybek Kuanyshbayev Museum
The theater museum was inaugurated on December 18, 2021, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Independence and the 30th anniversary of the theater itself. The opening ceremony featured the theater’s first director, Torgaut Shakhzadin, and People’s Artist of the USSR, Asanali Ashimov.
Over the years, the theater has become a spiritual hub for the nation, led by prominent artists such as Zhakyp Omarov, Kadyr Zhetpisbayev, and Azerbaijan Mambetov. The museum is dedicated to the theater’s founders — Zhakyp Omarov, Kadyr Zhetpisbayev, Azerbaijan Mambetov, and Ashirbek Sygai.
Currently, the museum houses approximately 200 artifacts. Among the most valuable are the dress, camisole, and headdress of Aktoqty, specially tailored for the production of G. Musrepov’s “Akan Seri – Aktoqty,” which marked the theater’s debut. A notable exhibit is the staff of Kalybek Kuanyshbayev, considered a unique artifact of the museum.
Visitors can explore documents related to the theater’s opening, photographs of actors and founders, costumes, personal belongings, diplomas, awards, medals, as well as vintage programs and tickets.
