We make many mistakes in life. We forget that life is so short, fleeting, and just a moment… we ignore it… don’t pay attention… We see ourselves as if we are immortal. This is a dangerous disease.
However, through the recognition of God, people’s outlook on life changes. The main message of this performance also relates to this. The main character, Oscar, at first does not believe in the Creator. He is suffering from cancer. Everything in the universe seems to be against him. But then he realizes that all of this was a mistake… he understands… His perception changes because of a character – the Red Virgin, namely, Roza Azhei! In order to cheer up Oscar, she invents all kinds of wonders and various legends. The dialogues between these two characters sometimes lead to sorrow, sometimes deep thoughts, and sometimes laughter.
“Oscar and the Red Virgin” is one of the widely spread works. In this piece, the French writer Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt addresses pressing issues of society. In a world where compassion, kindness, and love seem to be lost, this work’s relevance and importance are huge in the present time.
