The State Academic Kazakh Musical Drama Theatre named after Kalibek Kuanyshbaev will take part in the international theater festival “ART-ORDO – 2023”, which will be held from 24 to 29 September 2023 in Bishkek. 

IX International Theater Festival “ART-ORDO – 2023” will be dedicated to the People’s Artist of the USSR Baken Kydykeeva.

Theaters of Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are expected to participate in the festival. 

The theater named after K. Kuanyshbayev will present the musical drama “Bayan Sulu – kozy Korpesh” by G. Musrepov. One of the great legacies of Kazakh dramaturgy was presented to a wide audience in 2022 in a modern staging by a young director Gulnaz Balpeisova. Director Gulnaz Balpeisova, who was specially invited to stage the play, is a graduate of the workshop of the world director Rimas Tuminas and is one of the leading directors of the Moscow Vakhtangov Theater. The performance is accompanied by the ensemble of folk instruments of the theater. Conductor – Maralzhan Myrzakulova. Composer – Oleg Sinkin. Production designer – Kanat Maksutov. Lighting Designer – Narek Tumanyan. Choreographer – Ilmira Imangazina. Costume designer – Alma Syrbaeva. The play was shown at the II International Theater Festival “TEATRALL” and was highly appreciated by theater experts.

  The festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Union of Theatre Workers of Kyrgyzstan and supported by the international organization of Turkic culture “Turksoy”.

The aim of the festival is to popularize theatrical art, educate the young generation of spectators on the best examples of modern stage art, stimulate the exchange of professional experience of theatrical figures, increase their place in society and integration into the world cultural space.

“ART-ORDO” will be held on a competitive basis, and will be evaluated by a jury. The jury will be composed of theater figures: critics, theater historians, playwrights, directors, actors and scenographers from the countries participating in the festival.

The festival will award the nominations “Best Performance”, “Best Direction”, “Best Scenography”, “Best Musical”, “Best Male Role”, “Best Female Role”, “Best Supporting Actor”, “Best Supporting Actress”, “Best Supporting Actor”, “Best Supporting Actress”, “Best Acting Ensemble”, “Best Featured Role”, “Best Debut”, “Audience Award” and “Special Jury Prize”. Also by the decision of the jury of the festival, special prizes may be awarded to the participants of the festival.

Professional drama theaters of CIS and foreign countries were invited to participate in the festival.
