Sharkan Murtaza is one of the great figures in Kazakh literature. His work Bir Kem Dune (1992) holds an important place in contemporary Kazakh literature. The novel deeply explores the contradictions between life and death, societal changes, as well as the struggles and destiny of an individual.

The work touches on social issues and addresses important questions within Kazakh society. It portrays the life path of a person in difficult times, the problems of personal choice, and the development of one’s character. The internal contradictions of the characters, their difficulties in relationships with society, and their emotional struggles reflect the complexity of human nature and the author’s perspective on fate.
